Do It Yourself Wall Shelves

Installing wall shelves yourself is achievable with proper preparation and our comprehensive instructions. Each shelf arrives with mounting hardware and detailed guidance. You'll need a spirit level for ensuring horizontal alignment, a drill with appropriate bits for your wall type, a pencil for marking, and a tape measure.

Start by deciding shelf placement – measure and mark lightly. Use a stud finder to locate wall studs for the strongest support, or prepare appropriate wall plugs for plasterboard. Hold the shelf or brackets at marked positions, checking the level carefully, then mark drilling points.

Drill pilot holes, insert wall plugs if needed, then secure brackets firmly. Mount the shelf onto the installed brackets, ensuring stability before loading. Most installations are complete within 30-45 minutes.

How to Attach Wall Shelves

Attaching wall shelves securely requires matching fixings to your wall type. For plasterboard walls, use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated for your shelf's expected load – these expand behind the plasterboard, distributing weight safely. For brick or concrete walls, use appropriate wall plugs with masonry screws, drilling with masonry bits.

For wooden stud walls, locate studs with a finder and screw directly into them for maximum strength. Always use a spirit level, ensuring shelves sit perfectly horizontal – even slight angles become obvious once loaded.

Space brackets appropriately; longer shelves (like our 200cm options) require multiple brackets evenly distributed. Test stability gently before fully loading. For LED-equipped shelves like the Klara and Wensley collections, plan cable routing before final mounting.
